Convention in Salt Lake City. These conventions are always great but this one was even bigger and better because it was their 25th anniversary. Bigger... there were almost 6000 demonstrators there from all over the world. Better... even more free stamp sets, Prize Patrol and giveaways! I'm still riding the excitement high.

I've got some great classes coming up in the next few months that you won't want to miss. I've updated my calendars through September and will be adding Oct - Dec as soon as I get the boys' baseball schedule (4 playing at once - YIKES!)
My parents, siblings & their spouses and my husband and I are certified scuba divers. Now that the eldest two grandsons are of age to get their Jr. Certification, my parents took the entire family on a trip for their first dive experience. Between digital cameras, camera phones, an underwater camera and 5 disposable cameras for all the kids, we easily took hundreds of pictures.
In this digital age it is easy to take tons of great pictures that capture every great memory of trips like these. But taking the time to print them and put them in an album or dare try to scrapbook them can seem like an overwhelming task. But with My Digital Studio, Stampin' Up! has made this task simple. Here is just one page I made for the vacation album. I used one of my sunset photos as the background and just added a couple more photos and some quick text.
My Digital Studio is easy to learn and use and comes preloaded with tons of images and tools. Each Tuesday, Stampin' Up! releases even more digital downloads so you can continue to add to your library. And at the new price of $19.95, its an inexpensive way to create albums, calendars, cards, flyers and more! If you are in the Austin area, I provide free hands-on training to get you started. One of my awesome downline actually posted that comment on my Facebook today. Stamping is such a great way to 'check out' for a bit, use a completely different part of your brain and relax and recharge. Its a great stress-reliever!
My ever-growing To Do list last week included designing the projects for some upcoming workshops. I was running out of time and began to over-think and to do too much with them. The harder I tried to come up with a good design, the more frustrated and less-creative I was getting. I just wasn't feelin' it. Three hours before my workshop, as I'm finishing cleaning and setting up my studio, inspiration hits. To quote Despicable Me, "Light Bulb!" Some simple, easy but way cute and totally duplicatable cards are what flowed out. Nothing like last minute huh?

With three boys in elementary school and one in preschool there were a lot of Valentine's to make this year. 85 to be exact. And with 4 very different personalities, they each wanted something a bit different.

Of course the first place I headed when I needed an idea was Pinterest. Who hasn't been lost there for hours on end? Aidan (7) happened to see this idea and he really liked it, so his were pretty easy thanks to my camera and My Digital Studio.

Connor (8) is my funny-man. He's always crackin' jokes and laughing so his needed to be something funny. He "totally got" the smartie pants joke right away and again, thanks to My Digital Studio and the Celebrate Any Day Designer Kit download (which has the pants image), he was able to assemble his cards all on his own. We just printed the card, attached a Smarties candy to each leg and then cut out another pair of pants to attach on top.

Declan (4) LOVES the Big Shot. Anytime I have die cutting to do he wants to crank it so I knew his Valentines would include some die cuts. There are some peanut allergies in his class we we opted for lollipops and he did all the die cutting to make these adorable flowers using the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.

Finally, my eldest Lucas (10) is getting to the age when cutsie Valentine's are just not cool. By this age, its really all just about the candy. I get that but I just couldn't let 'neckid' candy be given so we wrapped the Hershey miniatures in Designer Series paper and added a nice little tag. He was able to do all the wrapping, stamping and die cutting himself! I stepped in when monotony threatened to take over but they turned out great.

I can't show you the Valentines I made for some of my girlfriends yet because several of them read this blog and they wont be getting theirs till we get together on Friday so you will have to wait too. I do have one more thing I can share though. I mentioned the My Digital Studio program earlier and if you are not familiar with it, it is a digital papercrafting program offer by Stampin' Up! Its a wonderful way to create photo books, calendars, scrapbook pages, cards, flyers, invitation or just about anything else you can come up with. Want to see what else I just created with it?

Connor is having a sleepover campout birthday party (yeah for Feb weather in Texas!) so I made the invitations for it. I used the Happy Camper Digital Download and was able to use the coloring tool to make the flames of the campfire various colors. The best part about My Digital Studio is that you can try it for FREE! Click on the SHOP button on the right and download your free trial offer today and see what you can create.
Once upon a time there was a crafting princess who suffered from 3 ailments...

She didn't have enough TIME to craft.

She didn't know WHAT to create.

She didn't have the SPACE to store a ton of crafting supplies.

Then along came her fairy godmother with Paper Pumpkin! This is a wonderful new program that Stampin' Up! is starting. Every month a new surprise project kit arrives on your doorstep to whisk you away for a 30 minute journey into creativity. All the coordinated materials come measured, precut and ready to assemble - including directions. Each kit includes stamps, ink, paper and accessories; everything to complete the project except adhesive. The best part - its only $19.95 per month including shipping!

The first kits will begin shipping the 15th of March but you need to sign up by the 10th of the month to ensure you receive the kit for that month. There is no commitment required, you can cancel your subscription anytime and you can even skip a month if you need to.

So forget Prince Charming. Hop on over to Paper Pumpkin now to sign up now. Even if you consider yourself more of a crafting ugly step-sister, you will LOVE this program. Please be sure to indicate me as your demonstrator when prompted (Heather Wilber, zip code 78665). You will receive a free gift from me if you do!
Chics 'n Chocolate was a blast! Eleven dear friends enjoyed making three projects, chocolate wine and this yummy chocolate 'mountain' (as my 4 yr old calls it).

We started with the projects so as to not have to work with chocolate fingers. I think they were anxious to get to it cuz they worked hard and fast. About half the group had never stamped before so it was such a joy to watch them create for the first time. Many of them started with that look of dread. I could almost hear them thinking "oh no, I can't do that" or "mine is never going to look like hers." As I watched and helped each one complete their projects I saw that look change. They all loved their projects and felt so good about what they had made. One guest commented that if she sent this to her mom, she would probably show it off like she did her handmade projects when she was little. Another was so proud of herself she wasn't sure she'd be able to give her projects away.

Later that night as we crawled into bed, my husband asked how the night went and if it was successful. I smiled as I told him that it wasn't the sales or the bookings that made it a success, it was hearing this from a first time crafter; "I'm not intimated anymore! I realized I can do this! And it was so fun!" THAT is why I do what I do. That is what I LOVE about what I do. THAT is what Stampin' Up! is all about.

To love what we do and share what we love,

as we help others enjoy creativity

and worthwhile accomplishments...

in this we make a difference!

Its a wonderful combination. Chocolate, wine, and creating with your girlfriends. What could be better? Join me this Friday night as we celebrate our other Valentines... our girlfriends! We will create a couple great chocolate-themed projects to show our love to our favorite gals and then spend the rest of the evening enjoying a chocolate fountain. This event is free but you need to rsvp so I have enough <strike>wine and chocolate</strike> materials prepared. :)
I used Basic Black and Pretty in Pink card stock for both the purse box and the card. The box contained some dark chocolates. The card used the bee image from Nature Walk as well as the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and the Dots Embossing Folder. If you know the Mary Kay story you know the significance of the bee.
Last week I got to spend 4 amazing days in Orlando, Florida at the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference. This was the first time I was able to attend and it was awesome! SU knows how to treat their demonstrators.
During the General Sessions, we heard from Shelli (CEO & Co-Founder) and several other staff members who shared great stamping projects, business tips and exciting surprise announcements. The Dude, You're Welcome kit, My Paper Pumpkin, and special 25th Anniversary Best Of promotions are just a few you will want to check out. And of course there was the very popular Prize Patrol and several all-attendee giveaways. Free stamping stuff ROCKS!
In addition, there were tons of beautiful project samples to inspire us and break-out classes with practical training to help our businesses grow. But to be honest though, the best part of Leadership wasn't any of these things. It was all the new friends I made. In the hotel lobby the first night, I was introduced to a group of demos from California who I joined for a hilariously fun night at a local dinner theatre. These gals quickly became my new friends. Its the relationships and friendships I've made through Stampin' Up! that have been the biggest blessing. Here is a photo of us, including my roommate and downline Carolyn (with the sock monkey) at the Stampin' Under the Stars Night in our PJs.
Instead of one gift, they get 12 little gifts. The last 12 days before Christmas break the boys bring in a little treat each day. Here is what they received on days 1-6.

On the first day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
Candy Cane M&M sticks

On the second day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
Binder Clip Photo Holders

On the third day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
Poinsettia Ornaments

On the fourth day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
Holiday Hershey's

On the fifth day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
Snowman Tealight

On the sixth day of Christmas, the kids gave their teachers...
K-cup Mugs

As you can see, they aren't big expensive things, but rather small little handmade tokens. I think (and ive been told) that the suspense and excitement of a new gift everyday is just as fun and enjoyable as the gift. And I think my kids love giving 12 days of gifts too!

Heather
- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11695356628764335069noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771463466932269169.post-16700885732917466882012-12-03T23:50:00.001-05:002012-12-03T23:50:21.200-05:00All the cuteness... I love being a part of a group a ladies who are so creative. I am always impressed with how they can see and use images, punches and products in new and unique ways. This one uses images to spell out a festive greeting.

(My iPad takes terrible pictures, I'm sorry.)
Stamp set: Jolly Bingo Bits
Ink: Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Brads, 1" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch

Heather
- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11695356628764335069noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771463466932269169.post-42202914331510980392012-09-08T23:09:00.001-04:002012-09-08T23:09:07.058-04:00Christmas cards, part oneEvery fall I start making Christmas cards. I figure if I start early they will get done before the mad dash of the holidays begins. In keeping with that line of thinking I start offering Christmas card classes in September. Each month I feature two new cards and class attendees make 5 of each card. If they come back to the October and November classes featuring new cards each month, they will have 30 beautiful handmade Christmas cards ready to be mailed out all before the Thanksgiving leftovers are finished!

This is the first of the two cards featured in the September class. Although it's hard to tell from the picture the Dazzling Details on the swirls of the tree make this card sparkle.

Stamp set: Snow Swirled
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Card stock: Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White
Accessories: Dazzling Details, Rich Razzleberry Stitched Ribbon

This second card uses one of my favorite Christmas color combinations, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Old Olive. They just remind me of the warmth and cheer of the holiday.

Stamp set: Delightful Decorations & Greetings of the Season
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Old Olive
Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Espresso, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Ornament punch, Linen Thread, Crumb Cake marker, Dimensionals

Both of these cards are easy to follow and mass-produce which makes them great for Christmas cards. Be sure to check back as I will be sharing parts 2 and 3 of my Christmas card classes. Or better yet, join us!
Welcome to the Watercooler Llamas Fall Blog Hop! This hop will feature projects from 9 bloggers covering all the fall occasions. I hope you'll take a few minutes to follow the trail and visit all the bloggers because I know you will find tons of inspiration along the way.

This is actually the first stop on the tour. At the end of my post you will be able to click a link to take you to the next great designer, but you can also use this link to go to our homepage where all the participants are listed.

Here in Austin, school will be starting again in just a couple weeks (can you hear the glee in my voice?). Today I'll be sharing a couple projects I'll be featuring in a class next week to start the school year off right.

The first project is an adorable little backpack. Perfect for filling with a few special supplies or a tasty surprise snack, it's sure to put a smile on your student's face. The top stays securely closed thanks to a magnetic clasp and the front pocket is perfect for a special note.

How about a little something for the teacher? This cute pencil card is quick and easy and features the Stripes Embossing folder, Tasteful Trims die and the 3/4" circle punch.

My final project is the coordinating Post-It note holder. There isn't a staff member at school that couldn't use one of these!

Put the whole ensemble together and you are sure to have a successful school year! If you aren't able to attend the class, you cam purchase the tutorial for these projects, complete with photos, by selecting School Tutorial from the list under Upcoming Classes on the sidebar.

Now it's time to hop on over to see what Debbie has in store for you! Thank you for taking the time to stop here. Please leave me a comment (top of post) and then enjoy the rest of the tour.
Did you just come from my friend Martha's page? She and I met at last year's Convention and let me tell you, she is awesome! If you didn't get a chance to check out her post, you can use this beautiful button (designed in My Digital Studio by another awesome llama, Stephanie) to visit Martha. Just be sure to come back, please!

I'll be honest, the thought of a smaller, more streamlined catalog made me a bit nervous at first. Would there be enough for me to love? Hahaha, oh me of little faith in Stampin' Up! Of course my wish list is miles long. During my first breeze through the catalog (yes, this takes many many viewings to feel like I've really seen it all), my heart stopped on Papillon Potpourri. I just love butterflies and this set has both realistic and whimsical images to fit all tastes. And the matching new punch.... Love it!

This first card is a case of a sample from the catalog. In fact, if you are the first person to leave a comment with the page number of where it is in the catalog, I will mail this card to you!

You will see I changed it up just a bit to make it my own. First I embossed the base with the Lattice Embossing Folder and I used the new Adorning Accents Edgelits die on either side of the butterflies. I featured our new In Colors on the butterflies and since they are so detailed, the new foam stamp pads created gorgeous crisp images. The new Elegant Butterfly punch means no fussy-cutting that Gumball Green butterfly and he pops right out with a dimensional and threaded button. I'd love to see your version of this card. How will you make it your own?

This second card features the Daydream Medallions stamp set. It wasn't till I saw the matching Floral Frames Framelits Die that this one popped to the top of my must-have list.

Again, I featured the new In Colors and added a new In Color Dahlias to the center. I just love how easy Stampin' Up! makes it to put everything together. Talk about coordination.

For my final project, I made a small purse box to hold love notes (3x3 cards) in. I love to give these as Hostess Gifts and then let my hostess choose her 3 favorite love notes from my excessive stash to put in it.

I chose Tempting Turquoise, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi for this project and featured the new Serene Silhouettes stamp set. The center image is actually set back from the front of the box with Dimensionals and adds a unique prospective. Sorry, the picture doesn't do it justice. I need to work on my photography skills.

Well that's it for me and you've reached the end of our hop. If you didn't get a chance to see all the other great designers and their projects, you can go to our homepage where we are all listed, or hop back to the start with Buffy (click next) and hop around again. Thanks for joining us, leave me a comment and come back again soon!

Heather

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11695356628764335069noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771463466932269169.post-90241706315209856762012-05-15T14:47:00.001-04:002012-05-15T14:47:45.691-04:00Going, going, gone! It's the most wonderful time of the Stampin' Up! year. Between us moms and the kiddos I think we were a party of 15 enjoying good TexMex food at Chuys. I have to admit I'm still learning the difference between all the dishes and I am regretting not taking Spanish in high school but it was fun nonetheless.

I wanted to give her something special and since we brought several bottles of NYS Finger Lakes wine with us, I decided to give one to her. Of course I needed to work on the 'presentation' so I made a matching card and wine tag.

Cute huh? I'm still in love with the 2011-2013 In Colors and glad they will still be around for another year. For this one I used Wisteria Wonder, Island Indigo, and Calypso Coral. I added the Lucky Limeade to the flower on the tag as well. So simple but so cute.
Enjoy!
Heather
- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11695356628764335069noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771463466932269169.post-81565123229547064752012-02-10T17:40:00.001-05:002012-02-10T17:40:23.380-05:00Settling InWe have finally arrived and are getting settled in here in Austin, Texas. The move went quite smoothly, everything arrived on time and in one piece and the kids are adjusting well and making new friends at school.

I have been busy unpacking and working to make our new house a home. Last weekend I finally got to work on my new stamping studio! I finally have a whole room devoted just to my business and I love how it came out. It is the only room I've painted so far. It was painted a very dark gray-green since it was the former owner's media room. Obviously I needed to lighten it up. I knew I wanted a classy but fun feel to the room so I decided my color scheme would be gray, black and hot pink. Hey, its my girly room so I needed to have some pink somewhere in my house! I painted the walls a light gray and all my bookshelves and my desk are black which compliment nicely. Then I added pops of pink all over with baskets, accents and flowers. This is the view of one half of the room.

I plan to get or make some cute pink valences for the windows and this little black table will soon be replaced with a big one that seats 8 as soon as my new kitchen table arrives! Sorry it's so dark but if I opened the blinds the bright sunshine made glares.

For Christmas my parents bought me this storage unit for all my ink pads and reinkers. Right now it's on my Big Shot table but as soon as I get some heavy duty anchors it will be up on the wall. Don't you just love it?

So now I am ready and open for business! I've scheduled a few classes and hope to start booking workshops as well. If you are in the Austin area, please check my calendar to see what classes are coming up or contact me to book your own workshop. I've got lots of ideas to inspire you!

Heather
- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11695356628764335069noreply@blogger.com2
